On the Day Telephone Consultation Appointments
The practice is now offering a number of ‘On the Day Telephone Consultation’ appointments. Please ask the receptionist when you call if you think this type of appointment would be suitable for you.
Urgent Afternoon Telephone Triage by the Duty Doctor
Triage literally means sorting.
When patients telephone the surgery and ask for urgent medical advice in the afternoon, their contact number and a brief note of the problem is given to the duty doctor.
The duty doctor then telephones each patient, gives advice if appropriate or organises a time for the patient to come to the surgery to be seen. In this way, those who are ill can be seen soonest, without a long wait in the waiting room.
It is not advisable to come to the surgery without ringing first as you will not be included in the triage system and may find you have to wait some time.
Telephone Response From a Doctor or Nurse Within 48 Hours
The practice has a procedure in place which enables you to speak to either a GP or practice nurse, should you need advice, during normal surgery opening times.
Your telephone call will be logged by a member of our reception team and a message passed to the appropriate person. They will return your call if possible the same working day but in any event within 48 hours.
It helps both, our reception staff and doctors and nurses if you can give concise but accurate details about your enquiry. This will enable us to deal with your enquiry in the most efficient way and provide you with the most appropriate response and advice.
