Frequently asked questions
Why has Prestwick Road surgery site closed
The decision to close Prestwick Road surgery has been taken by Attenborough Surgery, supported by NHS England.
Prestwick Road surgery does not provide the best environment to deliver services to our patients. The premises are not fully compliant for patients requiring disabled access.
Reasonable modifications have been made, but to fully comply would take major renovations.
Attenborough Surgery is committed to providing a range of services to patients. However, there is a lack of space in the Prestwick Road surgery premises.
In order to run extended services, larger premises including waiting room facilities are needed to do this safely.
Funding has been approved at Attenborough surgery in Carpenders Park, this will allow for additional services to be offered.
Expanding the services at Carpenders Park by transferring services at Prestwick Road enables clinicians to work together in a supportive way, as opposed to in isolation.
This is a more effective and safer way of working and delivering care to patients.
