The Practice offers a range of services. These include:
Non-NHS Services
We undertake a range on non-NHS Services. These services attract different levels of professional fees.
Who decides these fees?
The British Medical Association suggests fees for non-NHS work which is not covered under the GP's NHS contract, to help GP's set their own professional fees. The practice uses these as a basis for its charges for non-NHS work.
Why does it sometimes take a long time to complete a simple form?
Time spent completing forms and preparing reports takes a GP away from the medical care of his / her patients. Most GP's have a very heavy workload and paperwork takes up an increasing amount of time. When a doctor signs a certificate or completes a report, which may appear relatively straightforward, it is a condition of remaining on the medical register that they only sign what they know to be true. In order to complete even the simplest forms the doctor might have to check the patient's entire medical record, hence the need for a fee.
What will I be charged?
The practice publishes a list of its usual fees for non-NHS work. You should be advised by either the GP or a member of staff that there is a charge for your request. Payment in advance is kindly requested.
Please telephone our Reception if you would like to access these services.
Private Referrals
If the doctor feels you need to be seen by a consultant he or she will refer you to one. If you are in a private health scheme or you wish pay to see a consultant and have your treatment privately, the doctor will arrange this for you. He / she will supply you with the name address and telephone number of the consultant so that you can make an appointment that is convenient for you. However we do ask that you allow at least 7 days so that we have time to prepare the letter for you.
When you have made an appointment, please telephone 01923 231633 and inform our reception staff who you are seeing so that this information can be included on the referral letter. Your letter will be ready for collection 7 days later.
Patients who chose private care often ask us to complete a form for their private medical insurance company. We are only able to do this if we have referred you. There is an administrative charge associated with this task – please see our up to date list of non NHS fees.
