What is a Patient Participation Group?
A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is similar to the Parent Teacher Associations which work with many schools. A PPG ‘belongs’ to one GP Surgery and takes an interest in the general health care of the patients registered with the Practice.
Q & A's What does a Patient Participation Group do? What can I do? and "Who do I contact to join? together with additional information on "What is a Patient Participation Group".
If you would like to find out more about the Group and it's activities or have advance notice of future events, please contact us by email on aspatientgroup@yahoo.co.uk or call David Arrighi (committee member) on 01923 227692.
A well attended Diabetes Health Information event was held on Wednesday 22nd October 2008.
Attendees heard all about diabetes from Dr Khan and what they could expect from an annual diabetes check-up at the Surgery from Practice Diabetic Nurse, Sister Rachael Armstrong.
Hot off the press news about how future diabetic services will be more community based rather than at the hospitals came in the form of an entertaining and informative talk from Dr Marie-Anne Essam of the Pathfinder Practice in South Oxhey.
Jas Goraya of the Bushey Pharmacy joined the three speakers for a Q&A session to round off the evening.
Please download Dr Khan's presentation.
A few weeks later on 11th June the Group held it's second successful Quiz Night to raise funds for the Patient Group. Nine teams fuelled their grey matter with fish and chips before taking on the challenge of competing against each other under the watchful eyes of committee members and quizmasters, Gill and Pete Ford.
An enjoyable time was had by all and enough money was raised to fund two further health education events in the near future.
